FIELD: metallurgy; foundry; manufacture of castings possessing high mechanical and service properties. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes melting of charge, overheating melt to preset temperature, holding at heat for 1 to 15 minutes, deoxidation, introduction of modifying additive, holding melt at heat and teeming it into mold. Deoxidation is performed by means of master alloy containing alkali-earth metals and/or rare-earth metals in he amount of 0.01 to 0.05% of mass of charge followed by holding the melt at heat for 0.1 to 5 minutes. Then, modifying additive is introduced; this additive contains powder of one or several agents from the following groups: nickel, iron, chromium, iron-chromium alloy and ultra-dispersed particles of pyrolytic carbon at the following ratio of components, mass-%: ultradispersed particles of pyrolytic carbon, 1 to 25; powder of one or several agents from the following groups: nickel, iron, chromium, iron-chromium alloy and remainder assuming amount of pyrolytic carbon in charge of 0.005 to 0.1%. Holding time is 0.5 to 10 minutes. EFFECT: improved mechanical properties of castings; enhanced impact elasticity. 2 tbl
