FIELD: construction engineering; three-dimensional structural members. SUBSTANCE: structural member has great number of spiral components wrapped around longitudinal axis. Spiral components have straight sections fixed together in spiral configuration. Three spiral components of base periodic member have common angular orientation, common longitudinal axis, and are equally spaced apart. Three other opposing spiral components have common angular orientation and common longitudinal axis; they are equally spaced apart but their angular orientation is opposing to former one. These six spiral components have triangular-shaped projection as viewed from butt-end because of presence of straight sections. Additional six spiral components are positioned using same configuration, but they are turned relative to first six components so that structural member has projection in the form of six-sided star.
