FIELD: applied geophysics. SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for excitation of pressure pulses with negative leading edge for purposes of applied geophysics and clearance of face zone. Down-hole pulse source has two working chambers as minimum coupled to cylinders via differential pistons which are locked by ball locating arms and packer facilities including intermediate chambers with spring-loaded sleeves. Sleeves are rigidly linked to caps via tie-rods. When down-hole pulse source is installed in certain point in hole ball locating arms spread wide differential pistons and environment communicates with working chambers through windows in cylinders. Environment moves with certain velocity through working chambers and acts on bottoms of sleeves which displace walls of caps with reference to walls of hole and form dynamic resistance to environment. Spaces of working chambers and distance between caps is so chosen that half-wave is formed between them. EFFECT: increased power of pulse thanks to formation of half-wave between caps and authenticity of geophysical operations during initial and final prospecting for mineral resources in space around hole. 6 dwg
