FIELD: production of motor and ship's fuels; oil and gas processing industry. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in subjecting mazut to vacuum distillation accompanied by obtaining solar fraction, vacuum gas oil fraction and residue of vacuum column, after which vacuum gas oil fraction is directed for thermal cracking and vacuum column residue is directed for viscosity breaking. Viscosity breaking products are subjected to single-stage evaporation, thus obtaining vapor phase and heavy residue. Then, thermal cracking products and vapor phase of viscosity breaking are subjected to rectification separation in atmospheric column at separation of gas, gasoline fraction, kerosene and gas oil fraction and residue of atmospheric column. Part of kerosene and gas oil fraction is mixed with part of residue of atmospheric column at mass ratio of 2-40/98-60, thus obtaining heavy motor fuel at preset solidification temperature and remaining amount of kerosene and gas oil fraction and residue of atmospheric column are removed as ship's fuels. EFFECT: increased sum of distillate fractions by 3 to 8% in terms of mazut; reduced load on rectification column by more than 3-%. 1 dwg, 2 tbl
