METHOD OF OIL GATHERING FROM UNDER ICE COVER OF BASIN WITH RUNNING WATER Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: environmental control technologies used in cases of pollution of water surface under ice cover with liquid hydrocarbons in breaks of underground pipelines, disturbances of integrity of oil containing vessels located in immediate vicinity of water basins and in other similar situations. SUBSTANCE: method provides for breaking of ice cover and gathering oil into accumulators. Ice is broken in such a manner that ice edge forms either wedge counter to river flow, or acute angle with one of its banks. Oil accumulated in bank zone is directed to accumulators prepared beforehand. Accumulator bottom is inclined with reverse gradient to water basin. Water basin is communicated with accumulators by a system of pipelines. One pipeline withdraws oil from bank zone, and the other pipeline supplied water to accumulator to maintain constant level of fluids in accumulator. Fluids are held up to ice crystallization on fluids interface, and oil is gathered from ice surface. EFFECT: higher efficiency and safety of oil gathering, simplified method due to oil gathering after its bringing to open surface, and execution of majority of operations on basin bank but not on the ice. 4 dwg
