METHOD OF DEHYDRATING MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE SALTS AND MULTICELL HEATER FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE METHOD Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC C01F5/32 F27B15/00

Abstract RU 2321541 C2

FIELD: inorganic compounds technologies.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to dehydration of magnesium chloride salts for their preparation to electrolytic production of magnesium and can also be used in other industry fields wherein dehydration of material is associated with necessity of reusing spent heat carrier containing hydrogen chloride. Dehydration of magnesium chloride salts is accomplished through heat treatment of raw material in fluidized-bed multicell heater, the cells of which are operated under reduced pressure. Emission gases are dedusted in cyclones, whereupon dust is returned to process and to gas scrubbing stage. Hydrogen chloride-containing heat carrier is supplied to second and/or subsequent cells of the multicell heater. Scrubbing of emission gases from the second and/or subsequent cells is effected separately with regard to other cells. Underpressure in underroof spaces of the second and/or subsequent cells is maintained by 1-5 Torr more than in underroof spaces of other cells. Multicell heater consists of case with cap-type gas-distribution bottom separating it into overgrate and undergrate parts, external fire boxes, intercell partitions having in overgrate space holes for overflow of material being dehydrated and holes for equalization of underpressure under heater roof, dust-trapping cyclones connected to gas conduit provided with emission gas chambers and collector communicating with gas scrubbers. Second and/or subsequent cells are separated from upstream cells with partition having hole only for overflow of material being dehydrated and gas conduits of these cells are directed to a separate collector connected to separate scrubber.

EFFECT: simplified spent heat carrier processing.
