MELTING FURNACE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

Abstract RU 2177132 C1

FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, meting furnaces for production of metals and alloys, processing of metal and solid mixed radioactive waste, as well as of irradiated heat-producing elements and heat-producing assemblies containing used nuclear fuel. SUBSTANCE: the melting furnace has a metal melting cooled pot that is translucent for electromagnetic field, and a bottom plate with cooled. The bottom plate and/or side wall of the melting pot accommodates one or several draining devices made in the form of induction melting assemblies. The draining devices positioned in the bottom plate are made in the form of metal sectionalized cooled melting ports that are translucent for electromagnetic field with inductors arranged around the melting pots. The draining devices positioned in the side wall of the melting pot are made in the form of inclined metal sectionalized cooled chutes that are translucent for electromagnetic field, with inductors arranged around the chutes. The melting furnace provides for maintaining the temperature of the drained melt at the preset level; preserves homogeneity of the drained melt as a result of its electromagnetic stirring at drainage, prevents pollution of the obtained metal by material of which the draining device is made as a result of absence of some metals and slags that are not resistant to corrosion, prevents absorption of the melt components by the draining device, and thus does not form a new type of waste in the form of used structural materials, provides for continuous process of melting without crystallization and cooling of the products of melting inside the melting pot at a complete automatic and remote control and durability of the draining devices, since they can work for several years and need no intermediate surface conditioning and repairs with participation of the attending personnel. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and durability. 15 cl, 6 dwg
