FIELD: metallurgy of rare, radioactive metals and their alloys. SUBSTANCE: method includes production of metals and alloys by method of metallic reduction. Layers of reducing metal and powder of compound to be reduced are charged layer-by-layer into induction furnace. In this case, at least 50% of layers of reducing metal are located in planes of work-coil turns. Work-coil turns are arranged in horizontal plane parallel to one another. EFFECT: higher efficiency of charge preliminary heating and initiation of metallothermic reaction, production of structural materials for nuclear and thermonuclear reactors. 4 dwg, 2 ex
