SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of alcohols by interaction of carbonyl compound with an organic derivative of magnesium halogenide obtained by interaction of the corresponding organic halogenide with activated magnesium. As carbonyl compound β-aminoaldehyde or β-aminoketone of the formula (I): is used where means H or C₁-C₄-alkyl; R² means H or C₁-C₄-alkyl; either R² in common with R¹ means -(CH₂)₄-; either R² in common with R³ means C₄-C₇-cycloalkyl; either R² in common with R⁴ means C₅-C₈-cycloalkyl; either R² in common with R⁵ means 5-8-membered heterocycle; R³ means H or linear C₁-C₄-alkyl; R⁴ is H; R⁵ means C₁-C₅-alkyl; R⁶ means C₁-C₃-alkyl or aldehyde or ketone of the formula (II): where R⁷ and R⁸ are identical or different and mean H, C₁-C₆-alkyl or C₃-C₆-cycloalkyl, respectively.
