FIELD: bridge engineering; structures of metal welded spans mainly of pedestrian bridges. SUBSTANCE: span has top and bottom ledges, diagonal braces joined to ledges by means of intermediate members made in the form of prisms with stiffening ribs installed inside each of prism; two opposite side planes of each prism are inclined so that center angle formed between them is 60- 140 deg. ; thickness ratio of diagonal brace walls and prism is 1.5-3.0; diagonal braces are round and/or rectangular, but preferably square in cross-sectional area. According to second alternative diagonal braces are joined to respective ledge by means of slanting flange with hole whose size fits cross-sectional area of diagonal brace; flange thickness is not less than double thickness of diagonal brace wall; flange width does not exceed 4.5 of that of diagonal brace wall. EFFECT: reduced metal input; enhanced reliability of joints between diagonal braces and ledges; reduced amount of preparatory work. 8 cl, 6 dwg
