METHOD DETERMINING DISTANCE BETWEEN POINTS OF REFLECTING SURFACE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2178186 C1

FIELD: indirect measurement of distance between selected points of reflecting surface with use of electromagnetic waves. SUBSTANCE: given method determining distance between points of reflecting surface includes emission of signals from object along directions to selected points of reflecting surface, reception of reflected signals on object and determination of distance between selected points by relation of directions of signal emission and reception and known distance between points of emission and reception. Angle of divergence of axes of signal emission on to each point of selected pair is measured in sequence for each selected pair of points of reflecting surface taken from total number of points. Reception points of reflected signals are arranged on straight line passing through point of emission. Direction of axis of reception of reflected signals in each of them is changed in plane formed by mentioned straight line and corresponding axis of signal emission till it matches direction of arrival of signal reflected from section of surface in position of location of point belonging to selected pair and positioned on this plane.
