FIELD: MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY.
SUBSTANCE: reflecting element having exponential change in reflectivity at the direction of movement of object is connected with object. Light beam is directed onto element. Light beam is elongated to line in perpendicular to direction of shift. Amplitude of reflected signal is measured at different moments of time and value of movement of object is determined from logarithm of relation of measured amplitudes. Device for measuring shift of object has reflecting element connected with object, light source and registering unit. According to the first version of the device, the average meaning of optical density changes in the direction of shift of object. According to the second version, reflecting element is made in form of combination of retro-reflecting surface and surface coated with light-absorbing layer. Surface interface is preset in advance.
EFFECT: widened range of measurements; increased precision of measurement.
