FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: use: for production control of pipe passability. The substance of the invention consists in the fact that the device comprises a station provided to produce data of measurements, representing physical measurements of outer geometry of a steel pipe. It also comprises an information system provided for preservation of dimensional data used in the system of coordinates and representing general geometry of a calibration body. In the selected system of coordinates this system then produces a 3D image of pipe sections. For each section of the pipe the system performs detection of critical size, which represents the limit value of passage size for the calibration body inside the selected pipe section. The method and the device according to this invention may also diagnose pipe passability for the calibration body.
EFFECT: provides for the possibility to control pipe passability without usage of a calibration body sent inside a pipe.
