FIELD: polymeric glass-reinforced plastic insulators and shells for stations, substations, railway power lines and contact systems. SUBSTANCE: metered amount of raw rubber is applied to glass-reinforced plastic base shell by means of extruder head incorporating two sequential coaxial hollow cylinders of different diameters. Glass-reinforced plastic base shell covered with raw rubber layer is placed in mold heated to 120-160 C and held at this temperature for 20-40 minutes whereupon mold is set apart, and shield is extracted. Proposed method prevents incomplete shaping of ribs. EFFECT: enhanced yield and productivity. 2 dwg
