FIELD: industrial and agricultural water supply systems; artificially irrigated farming agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method consists in continuous spraying of water to be frozen at varying angle relative to horizontal plane, forming ice granules and ice block and producing fresh water due to its thawing. Freezing process is performed at constant check of air temperature in area of parameters limited by preset dependence of degree of breaking jet into drops versus present air temperature. Angle of inclination of sprinkler nozzle is increased with rise of height of ice block. Temperature of upper layer of ice being frozen is monitored; control of temperature is effected through change of rate of sprinkler nozzle. Freezing of ice block is performed in area of parameters limited by preset dependence of temperature of upper layer of ice being frozen versus mineralization of water being distilled. Device for realization of this method includes pumping unit, sprinkler with nozzle and head, nozzle rotation rate control mechanism, mechanism for control of angle of inclination of sprinkler nozzle and control system. Device is also provided with mechanism for adjustment of head diameter, measuring complex, unit for measuring ice block height and trajectory of jet, ice temperature sensors, air temperature sensor, information advice system for information processing and heating system for water supply elements.
