FIELD: irrigated agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing multiple single-time measurements of concentration of prevailing ions in irrigation water at outlet ends of sprinkler unit at the level of plant cover; taking complex of meteorological parameters; determining water losses for evaporation in air by difference in prevailing ion concentration in irrigation water; additionally registering water heating along pipeline of sprinkling machine; on the basis of accomplished regression analysis of amount of water lost due to evaporation, measuring complex of parameters and determining water losses due to evaporation in air and measuring water heating along pipeline; setting water losses due to evaporation in air from dependence E = fi(ΔT), where ΔT is heating of water along pipeline. Method is used for operation of multitower sprinkling machines providing irrigation with underground water and mountain river water. EFFECT: reduced number of parameters under measurements, reduced expenses for determining water losses due to evaporation in air during irrigation with underground water, and improved quality of irrigation by precise dosing of irrigation norm. 2 cl, 4 dwg, 2 tbl, 3 ex
