FIELD: chemical industry, more particularly acid decomposition of industrial cumene hydroperoxide. SUBSTANCE: decomposition is carried out in back-mixing reactor having shape of truncated cone with upper to bottom diameter ratio of 1.7. Diameter of lower bottom d is defined according to equation d is wherein m is amount fed for decomposition of cumene hydroperoxide, cubic m/h; n is volumetric ratio between circulating reaction mixture and raw material; 10 is time of residence of reaction mixture in reactor, h; height of reactor is defined according to equation wherein m is amount fed for decomposition of cumene hydroperoxide, cubic m/h. Industrial cumene hydroperoxide and acid catalyst solution are introduced into decomposition reactor by two streams with opposite direction at distance equal 10-30% from reactor axis. The mixture produced after acid decomposition is decomposed in reactor of displacement. Reactor of displacement is an adiabatic device. Water is supplied into reactor of displacement through jet mixer. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 cl, 2 dwg, 2 tbl
