CABLE INSULATION STRIPPING TOOL Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: electrical engineering; preparing cables for wiring in electrical, radio, and instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: tool has hinged upper and lower halves of cable-gripping handle spring loaded relative to one another. Handle halves are permanently held compressed due to action of calibrated spring and have releasing lever hinge- mounted on lower half of handle. Upper half of handle carries knife which is free to move to longitudinal and transversal cutting positions. In longitudinal-cutting position knife blade is set at certain angle to longitudinal axis of cable. Knife blade embraces member functioning to limit cutting depth its butt end resting on cable sheath within cutting area. Cable locking member in the form of cylindrical hole is provided in lower half of handle that passes to open through duct in cutting area. EFFECT: provision for stripping cable insulation without damage to its layer under insulation. 4 dwg
