FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: oil residues are mixed with 1 to 10% of naturally- occurring zeolite containing 5 to 20% alumina, which is then crushed to particle size no greater than 100 mcm and dispersed with oil residues. Dispersion is further subjected to thermal cracking at 390-450 C, pressure 0.2 to 5 MPa, and volumetric flow rate 1 to 6 h-1. Zeolite can contain up to 7% iron oxides.
