FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: composition for removing different toxic compounds from water contains at least one titanium(IV) compounds, at least one I-IV and VIII group compound, at least one V group compound, and optionally titanium(III) compound. Composition is prepared by treating I-V and VIII group compounds with acid titanium- containing solution on heating. Heating is effected in two steps. The first step is carried out at 10 to 90 C and heating rate 3 at least C/min, the second one is effected at 95-105 C for 0.5 to 2 h at heating rate 1 C/min, and the third one at 105- 120 C for 0.5 to 2 h.
