FIELD: water-development engineering; reconstruction of berthing facilities of sea and river ports. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes dipping of ground- protecting reinforcing members into ground before front wall followed by removal of layer of ground: metal ground-protecting panels used as ground-protecting members are tightly installed before front wall of berthing facility. For installation of ground- protecting panel in required position before dipping them is ground, use is made of curvilinear rod placed along panels and supported by thrust unit found in their lower portion; rod is secured to panel by means of attachment unit found in upper portion of panel. EFFECT: reduced labor consumption and operating time without discontinuation of work of berthing facility; possibility of operating berthing facility without additional safety precautions for prevention of mechanical defects of vessels being moored. 4 cl, 5 dwg
