FIELD: investigation of roots. SUBSTANCE: method involves creating water flow and cutting it in working fluid; sampling root parts layer-by-layer; orienting water flow at an angle to surface of stripped layer and imparting rotating motion in its plane; extracting root mass after mechanical disintegration thereof. Apparatus for removing soil and ground has cylindrical housing equipped with devices designed for retaining housing in predetermined position and mounted tangentially to cylinder side wall and at an angle to cylinder axis, pressure pipe and siphon positioned so as to be dismantled. Intake hose of siphon is arranged centrally of housing. Drain hose of siphon is connected with intake hose through lock. Apparatus for determining orientation and coordinates of arrangement in soil body has cylindrical housing with supporting ring. Pulley with rope is arranged in upper part of housing. Bracket is mounted on internal surface of cylinder for receiving double-armed lever. One arm of lever is equipped with sight for counting equally spaced angle marks applied to external surface of cylindrical housing. Pulley with rope and rotational drive are mounted on other arm of lever. Rotational drive provides radial displacement relative to measurement scale. EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced labor consumption and decreased investigation time. 8 cl, 6 dwg
