FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves mowing, grinding and uniformly distributing ground parts of vegetative buds over the surface of prepared land strip; removing stubble and black head; undercutting root layer of soil; extracting root mass; laying it on land strip surface. Extraction process is carried out in continuous staged mode. Mentioned operations and other operations such as removal of stubble and black heads are combined with mellowing of land strip mid part to depth where 60-80% of basic root and rootstock mass are lying. Undercutting of soil layer is carried out beyond the mellowed zone. During laying of extracted roots onto land strip surface, narrowed windrow is formed. In the process of raw root material harvesting and transportation, upper layer of harvested land strip is covered. Apparatus has rotavation drum and ripper tine arranged behind rotavation drum so as to be repositioned in vertical plane on frame. Front part of ripper tine is equipped with blade and lower part with chisel. Licorice root extraction machine has triangular main frame with hitched shackle and auxiliary frame with U-shaped undercutting knife, drive rotors, windrow former and supporting-gage wheels, which are arranged in succession. Supporting-gage wheels are equipped with reducers. Licorice root harvesting machine has rotor with husks and inclined conveyor, which are mounted on front part of frame. EFFECT: increased efficiency by combined processes, reduced power consumption and improved quality of raw licorice material. 8 cl, 13 dwg
