FIELD: prediction and exploration of oil and gas fields. SUBSTANCE: construction of the model of investigated area profile involves analysis of its surface for seismic activity. Wave fields of refracting and reflecting surfaces of investigated area obtained in the process are used for seismographic analysis of not only area being investigated but also of entire field. Homogeneous regions of field are distinguished basing on results of analysis. Analogs for geological interpretation of investigated area are chosen among homogeneous regions of field investigated in the course of boring by coincidence of criteria received by methods of general depth point and of wave refraction. Data obtained are analyzed, interpreted, and used for building seismostratigraphic model of area being investigated. EFFECT: enhanced confidence, precision, and reliability. 2 cl, 8 dwg
