Staggered cuts are made on opposite sides of spike body 2 parallel to track axis within the limits of length equal to length of body driven into tie. Cross- section of profile of cut slot 4 is right-angle triangle. Vertex of lower acute angle of triangle is located on slot bottom, and sides are equal to half of difference between size of side of square cross-section of spike body and size of diameter of spike hole in tie.
