FIELD: technology of pickling of carbon steels and alloys. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for development of waste-free technology of pickling with simultaneous uninterrupted regeneration of used solution. Pickling solution to be regenerated is fed into cathode and anode compartments of electrolyzer separated by anion-exchange membrane. Solution is divided into two currents before supply into electrolyzer with volumetric ratio (1-3):20 of flows fed into cathode and anode compartments correspondingly. Ions of ferrous iron are oxidized in anode compartment to ions of ferric iron and remain in anolyte and ions of ferric iron are reduced to ions of ferrous iron and to metallic iron in cathode compartment which precipitates on cathode. After electrolysis anolyte and catholyte are mixed and fed into pickling bath as starting pickling solution. EFFECT: ion balance of iron is maintained without formation of waste. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
