FIELD: method and device for thermal and/or catalytic decomposition and/or depolymerization of lower organic matters. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in the fact that lower organic matters are subjected to the effect of a moving layer of solid particles accomplishing a vortex motion of the matter at a temperature in the reaction chamber within 150 to 700 C and pressure within 0.1 to 2.5 MPa. Intensive agitation of solid particles making up the moving layer is generated by a rotating mechanism positioned directly in the reaction chamber and having a peripheral speed of the blades within 15 to 135 ms-1. The rotating mechanism is coaxially positioned in the cylindrical reaction chamber of the device and consists of a shaft and blades. The blades of the rotating mechanism providing an intensive vortex motion are attached to the shaft with the aid of drive disks. The blades may be arranged row upon row from 3 to 10 rows parallel to the shaft axis, they may be made with holes or cut-outs of various geometric forms and/or divided into various segments. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 14 cl, 11 dwg, 6 tbl
