FIELD: seismology, remote Earth sounding, applicable in national systems of geophysical monitoring for prediction of earthquakes.
SUBSTANCE: according to the claimed invention, cloud-cover images of the Earth in the infra-red band by space aids are obtained. Linear cloud anomalies are separated out of them by target designations of the space aids. The reflected luminous flux above the linear cloud anomalies are registered by two reception channels mutually orthogonal in polarization. A synthesized image matrix is formed, and its numerical characteristics are computed. The probability of an earthquake is predicted by the estimated performances.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability of prediction of the earthquake probability.
