FIELD: esterification catalysts. SUBSTANCE: proposed catalyst belongs to new metallo-organic catalysts for production of esters which contain reaction product for interaction of (a) ortho-ester or condensed ortho-ester of titanium, zirconium or aluminum; (b) alcohol containing at least two hydroxyl groups; (c) organophosphorous compound containing at least one P-OH group and (d) base by mixing these components; metallo-organic catalyst contains product of reaction with 2-hydroxycarboxylic acid. Besides that, invention deals with method of production of ester which consists in performing esterification reaction in presence of above-mentioned catalyst.
