FIELD: industrial organic synthesis.

SUBSTANCE: catalyst represents a solid titanium compound containing oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen and including Ti-O bond. Maximum solubility of compound in ethylene glycol, as measured at heating to 150оС, is at least 3.000 ppm taking into account titanium atoms. Optionally, catalyst can be in the form of titanium-containing solution, wherein contact product of titanium halide hydrolyzate or titanium alcoholate with polyhydric alcohol is dissolved in ethylene glycol in amount corresponding to 3.000 to 100.000 ppm titanium. Catalyst shows elevated activity and catalytically prepared polyether possesses better transparency, better shade, and lower acetaldehyde level.

EFFECT: increased catalytic activity and improved polyether quality.
