FIELD: materials handling equipment. SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for use on power belt conveyors operating both for lifting and lowering of load. Proposed cone brake for belt conveyor consists of frame, brake disk, conical disk, closing springs and release mechanism drive. Brake disk is installed for axial displacement on splines on free end of conveyor drum shaft installed with clearance inside fixed support. Disk with two coaxially arranged conical surfaces is secured on support coaxially with shaft. Brake disk is spring-loaded relative to support for engagement with said conical surfaces. Rod with coupling is installed coaxially with conveyor drum shaft. Coupling has two conical surfaces arranged coaxially relative to rod for engagement with other side of brake disk. Rod is spline- mounted in two fixed supports. Coupling is spring-loaded relative to one of fixed supports by means of closing springs coaxially arranged and equally spaced relative to rod. Free end of rod has eye oriented in vertical plane. Eye is mechanically coupled with release mechanism drive. EFFECT: increased brake torque. 2 cl, 2 dwg
