FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials handling facilities. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to conveyors, namely, to brakes installed on shaft of belt conveyor drum. It can be used in high-power inclined belt conveyors operating both for lifting and lowering of load. Proposed belt conveyor brake consists of supports secured on frame, brake disk mechanically coupled with drum shaft and auxiliary disk, closing spring and release mechanism drive. Disks are installed for engagement through their friction surfaces. Brake disk is installed for axial displacement along splines on free end of conveyor drum shaft arranged with clearance inside fixed support from drum side being spring-loaded relative to shaft flange and provided with two symmetrical spherical friction surfaces for interaction with corresponding friction surfaces of said disk and additional auxiliary disk. Additional disk is secured on said support. other auxiliary disk is mounted on rod with splines arranged coaxially with shaft of drum and with clearance relative to the latter. rod with splines is mounted in two supports for axial displacement in supports. Auxiliary disk is spring-loaded to support second from drum by compression springs arranged coaxially relative to rod and uniformly spaced over arc of circumference. Free end of rod is provided with lug with round hole and eccentric fitted in hole for engagement with lug. Eccentric is secured on slow-speed shaft of release mechanism drive reduction gear mechanically coupled with motor and furnished with shoe brake mounted on high-speed shaft.
