FIELD: technology of water treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the complex treatment of water by oxidation by means of ozonization and with heavy metal ions, in part, copper ions. Invention can be used for disinfection of drinking water in water supply systems of towns and other town points and for disinfection of reservoir return water also. Method of water disinfection involves its treatment with ozone or silver ions being the treatment is carried for some stages. At the first stage ozone is added to water up to its concentration in water 0.5-1 mg/l; at the second stage the ozonized water is kept for 0.2- 2 h and then at the third stage water is treated with copper ions in concentration 0.05-0.8 mg/l. Copper ions are produced using electrolyzer where anode and cathode are made of refined copper and polarity of electrodes is changed in 5-10 min. The ozonization is carried out preferably at water temperature 10-20 C and electrolysis at 20-30 C and pH = 6.5-8.5. Method ensures to prevent the secondary bacterial infection of water for the prolonged time (for month, not less) using relatively small amount of reagents with a single use. EFFECT: development of effective and universal method of water disinfection. 4 cl, 1 tbl, 2 ex
