FIELD: water treatment processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to complex water treatment processes involving oxidation by means of ozonation and copper ions. It can be used to disinfect drinking water in water supply systems of towns and residential sites as well as to disinfect water of swimming pools. Combination water disinfection process is characterized by that initial water is treated with copper ions used in concentration 0.05 to 0.8 mg/L, provided that copper ions formed on dissolution of copper-containing salts are added in two steps: one half of the total amount of copper to be used is added before ozonation, whereupon water is held for 0.1-1 h at constant stirring caused by compressed air and remaining quantity of copper is introduced into ozonation chamber directly in ozone dispersing zone. As a result, effective and environmentally safe water disinfection process is developed consuming relatively small amounts of reagents allowing, upon two-step addition thereof, high degree of microorganism inactivation to be ensured and possibility of secondary bacterial contamination of water over a long (no lee than 2 months) period of time to be prevented.
EFFECT: achieved efficient long-term disinfection of water.
