FIELD: technology of water treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of water treatment by chlorination and heavy metal ions, in part, silver ions. Method of water disinfection involves its chlorination and the following treatment with silver complex compound. Treatment of chlorinated water is carried out with diamminargenate ions [Ag(NH3)2]+ at concentration 0.005-0.01 mg/l as measured for Ag+ produced by interaction of ammonia excess with respect to stoichiometry and silver ions Ag+ formed at water electrolysis in electrolyzer device. Anode and cathode of electrolyzer comprises 99 wt.-% of silver, not less. Polarity of electrodes is alternated periodically. In the process of electrolyzer work it is preferably to alternate polarity of electrodes in 5-10 min and electrolysis to carry out at water temperature 20-30 C and pH = 6.5-8.5. Invention can be used for water disinfection in water supply systems of towns and other settlements and for disinfection of reservoir return water. Method provides a possibility of prevention of the secondary bacterial infection of water for a long time (for a month, not less) and in a single addition of reagents.
