FIELD: fuel energy complex. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to waste processing in installations using exhaust gases. Proposed method includes grinding of waste, treatment of waste with heat carrier and subsequent pressing. After grinding, waste materials are wetted to humidity of 5 to 50 mass % with water, and steam-gas mixture containing steam and products of thermal decomposition of waste materials, mass ratio (1-20):1 is used as heat carrier. Steam-gas mixture used as heat carrier is obtained by evaporation of moisture from waste material and thermal decomposition of material at temperature of 180-320 C and pressure of 1 to 10 kgt/cm².
