FIELD: study of mechanical characteristics of ice hummocks under laboratory and natural conditions. SUBSTANCE: process determining mechanical characteristics of ice hummocks consists in forcing of plate through hummock keel in vertical direction and in simultaneous measurement of force of resistance to forcing with use of dynamometer. Plate is forced by mass of weight attached to plate and resistance force is measured by means of dynamometer unloaded from moments. Gear for implementation of process includes power drive with retractable rod which is coupled through dynamometer to forced plate, electronic unit connected to dynamometer and recorder. Plate is fitted with weight attached to it and coupled to dynamometer and dynamometer is linked to retractable rod via joint placed between them. EFFECT: increased authenticity and accuracy of determination of mechanical characteristics of ice hummocks thanks to exclusion of bending moments affecting dynamometer and provision of stability of system loading plate. 2 cl, 1 dwg
