FIELD: evaluation of pollution of upper zones of shelf, execution of measures preventing pollution and contributing to clearing of water areas. SUBSTANCE: procedure includes measurement of production index in Laminaria bongardiana. Average mass of hewing reduced to unit of area of lamina of Laminaria bongardiana of first or beginning of second year of life is used in the capacity of production index. Level of pollution is evaluated by change of this index in comparison with average mass of hewing reduced to unit of area of lamina of Laminaria bongardiana growing under optimum habitat. Lesser average mass of hewing greater level of pollution. EFFECT: increased efficiency and simplified procedure of processing of kinds- monitors employed in evaluation of pollution of water area. 1 dwg, 3 tbl
