FIELD: estimate of quality of motor oils, applicable for determination of their fitness in operation of equipment. SUBSTANCE: the oil drop analysis is introduced in a mixture consisting of 71±1% of distilled water and 29+-1% of solvent; the solvent consists of 50% of toluene and 50% of isopropanol; filter tape "blue tape" impregnated by -0.5-percent aqueous solution of bromtymol blue is used as an indicator. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy and simplified analysis.
