SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of alcohols with 7-18 carbon atoms by reaction of hydroformylation of corresponding olefins with synthesis gas in the presence of an organic phase containing a cobalt catalyst at 50-220 C under pressure 100-400 bars followed by hydrogenation of aldehydes synthesized by this method. Cobalt catalyst is produced by interaction of cobalt salt an aqueous solution with synthesis gas in the presence of an organic solvent with low or absent ability to be mixed with water. An organic phase containing a cobalt catalyst is prepared by extraction of a cobalt catalyst formed from an aqueous phase using extracting agent with low or absent ability to be mixed with water. The production of a cobalt catalyst, extraction of the formed cobalt catalyst into an organic phase and reaction of hydroformylation of corresponding olefins are carried out for a single stage and in a single reactor preferably. Feeding of all reagents flows is performed using a mixing nozzle. Olefin and/or aldehyde, and/or alcohol, or products of reaction can be used as an organic solvent and extracting agent.
