FIELD: organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates namely to the production of n-propanol, propionic acid and its esters. The installation for producing propionic acid ester from carbon monoxide and ethylene contains several units. The unit for the synthesis of cobalt-pyridine complex (CPC) from alcohol, pyridine and cobalt salt is designed to ensure the conversion of cobalt salts using carbon monoxide and hydrogen into cobalt carbonyls and the replacement of the CO group in cobalt carbonyls with pyridine. The carboalkoxylation unit provides the use of CPC as a catalyst for the production of propionate from carbon monoxide and ethylene in the presence of alcohol. The decobaltization unit, by treating the products with atmospheric oxygen and propionic acid, converts the cobalt carbonyls contained in the carboalkoxylation products into a heat-resistant form of organic cobalt salt. The distillation column of the installation serves to isolate the intermediate product and provides the ability to separate the synthesized propionic acid ester and cobalt salt sent for recycling.
EFFECT: creation of an installation that makes it possible to obtain a commercial product under milder synthesis conditions and reduce equipment requirements, as well as minimize the emission or disposal of carbon monoxide.
