FIELD: repairs of motor roads, particularly, methods of replacement of culverts. SUBSTANCE: method of culvert replacement laid under earth embankment of roadway includes earth excavation and laying of new culvert. New culvert is laid in immediate vicinity of old culvert in winter time. In so doing, prior to culvert laying, tunnel is made in earth embankment with simultaneous construction of tunnel support. Tunnel is kept at frost up to freezing of its walls, culvert is laid into tunnel, support is withdrawn and remaining tunnel cavity is filled with concrete. After laying of new culvert, old culvert is plugged up with concrete. During filling of tunnel cavity with concrete, vibrators are installed into culvert. Tunnel width shall not exceed culvert size by more than 0.5 m. Tunnel height shall provide for performance of required work but shall not be higher than that of culvert according to norms by more than 0.5 m. Remaining tunnel cavity after laying of culvert in it is filled with concrete through vertical hole made in roadway and earth embankment for the purpose. Culvert may be made of steel, reinforced concrete or composite materials. Culvert may be of pipe or box cross-section. EFFECT: simplified and low-cost method of replacement of culverts under earth embankments without interfering with road traffic, accessible for small enterprises. 8 cl, 3 dwg
