METHOD AND DEVICE FOR FILLING OF HIGH-PRESSURE CYLINDERS WITH EXTRA-PURE HYDROGEN AND OXYGEN Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2183302 C2

FIELD: filling of high-pressure cylinders with extra-pure hydrogen and oxygen. SUBSTANCE: method consists in the fact that sea-water is decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen at a pressure of 20 atm with the aid of an electrolyzer, and elastic vessels preliminarily lowered to a depth of 200 m by means of winches are filled with these gases, then the hoses for feeding of hydrogen and oxygen are disconnected from the elastic vessels with the aid of automatic units and bayonet joints and empty high-pressure cylinders are simultaneously connected to the elastic vessel, then the elastic vessels with empty cylinders connected to them are lowered to a depth of 1500 m, and the pneumatic communication between the cylinders and the elastic vessels is shut off with the aid of the automatic unit, then the whole equipment together with the cylinders with hydrogen and oxygen compressed to 150 atm is lifted with the aid of winches on board the ship, and the filled cylinders are placed in the respective separate containers. The device consists of a specializer ship carrying electrolyzers, motor-electric generator, winches with a load-carrying capacity of 1200 kg and deep-water apparatuses for hydrostatic compression of electrolytic hydrogen and oxygen consisting of the following components: elastic vessels for hydrogen and oxygen, empty high-pressure cylinders (up to 150 atm) with a capacity up to 85 liters, plummets with a mass making it possible to lower the elastic vessels filled with gases to a depth of 1500 m, steel cables and an automatic pneumatic unit for feeding the gas compressed in the electrolyzer to the elastic vessels, and an automatic unit for filling and shut-off of the cylinders. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 1 dwg
