FIELD: machine engineering, metallurgical industry branches for making and exploiting blooming mills. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes upper and lower chocks with hinged straps for wear compensation along height of chocks engaging with wear compensation straps of cleats fixing upper roll in axial direction. At adjusting position of upper roll it is necessary to provide minimum gap and mutual parallelism between wear compensation straps of cleats and chocks along height of upper chocks. That is why when roll moves upwards, chocks are not jammed and shocks are not occurred in screwdown mechanism of cogging mill. Lower chock provides axial fixation of roll and also (by means of locking mechanisms) fixation of roll in direction of rolling process. It enhances strip biting by rolls. EFFECT: enhanced strength of housing, of wear compensation straps of walls of housing windows and of chocks, reduced wear of screw-nut pairs and supporting units of screws of screwdown mechanism. 2 cl, 7 dwg
