SUBSTANCE: hydraulic apparatus for balancing roll of cogging mill includes hydraulic cylinder with ram mounted in upper portion of mill stand. In center of reduction gear of screw-down mechanism in upper portion of ram, crossbar with balancing device is mounted. Balancing device includes two tie rods and two cross beams on ends of which chocks and working roll are suspended with use of four tie rods. In order to balance working roll with blade, two counter- weights are mounted on ends of cross beams distant from blade. Said counter-weights are in the form of prisms with braces. If necessary additional weights may be mounted on counter-weights. EFFECT: equalized pressure values in bearing units of screw-down mechanisms and screw gages at guiding to stand non-balanced roll with blade, increased strength of members of bearing units. 3 dwg
