FIELD: processes for laser treatment of metals, possibly in machine engineering for hardening working surfaces of parts of titanium and its alloys. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of blackening surface and its subsequent treatment in air at percentage humidity no more than 20% by means of laser beam with cross mode TEMoo at superimposing adjacent tracks; setting time period of interaction of laser beam with treated surface in range 0.6 ≤t≤1.5s; setting motion rate of laser beam in range 0.2≤V≤1.5cm/s at irradiation power density 103-104 Wt/sq.cm.
