FIELD: identification of authenticity of documents, paper money, in particular. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with procedure identifying authenticity of documents, genuine US paper currency, document is irradiated with ultraviolet light, ultraviolet light reflected by specified document is detected and authenticity of specified document is determined on basis of comparison of characteristics of ultraviolet radiation reflected from specified document with characteristics of ultraviolet radiation reflected from genuine US paper currency irradiated by ultraviolet light. Specified document is not considered genuine if ultraviolet light of relatively great intensity is not reflected from document. Document is considered genuine if value of ultraviolet light found at this stage of detection of ultraviolet light reflected from this document exceeds preset threshold.
