FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involve laying selection seed nursery; selecting basic (mother) plants and evaluating them by number of flax balls, height of plants and fiber content in technical part of stem; additionally determining average value of seed weight; discarding plants having average seed weight deviating from arithmetic mean value by plus and minus 10% and more. Method may be used at initial seed growing stage and allows seed material to be produced, which has improved homogeneity and productivity and improved genetic equilibrium. Mentioned seed parameters are kept at subsequent multiplication stages. EFFECT: prolonged keeping of biological potential of seed kind during cultivation thereof and increased efficiency. 2 tbl
