FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves subjecting iron ore concentrate to roasting, cooling, mineral acid leaching at predetermined leaching parameters, separating liquid phase from solid phase. Iron ore concentrate is exposed to oxidizing roasting at temperature of 800-1,000 C with holding time not exceeding 1 hour. Leaching is effected by using sulfuric or nitric acid. Kind of acid is selected depending on mineralogical ore content and structure of phosphor-containing substance. Method allows iron ore concentrates to be prepared for conversion by improving their qualities through removing of undesired contaminants contained in concentrates, primarily of phosphor. EFFECT: increased efficiency by obtaining ore concentrates with standardized optimum amount of phosphor. 5 cl, 1 tbl, 1 ex
