FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in hydrometallurgical processing of manganese ores into various-destination manganese concentrate. Method involves integrated firing- caking with carbon-containing material at 500-900 C of manganese-containing ore preliminarily crushed to fineness 0-5 mm at ratio of reducing agent to ore 1:(1-6) followed by treatment of cake with recovered 3.0-12 N hydrochloric acid containing 0.003-1.5 wt.% of organically bound chlorine at temperature 70-95 C and solids-to-liquid ratio 1:(1.5-8.0). Solution is decanted while maintaining pH of mixture below 1.0 and then pH is adjusted 4.0-6.0 and hydroxides of impurities are filtered away. From manganese (II) chloride solution maintained at 40 to 80 C and pH 7.6 to 14.0 in presence of oxidant, manganese concentrate is isolated at oxidant-to-ore ratio 1:(2.0-5.0). Concentrate is separated from mother liquor, washed with hot water at solids-to-liquid ratio 1: (2.5-3.5), filtered off, and dried. Method allows processing of manganese ores with different mineralogical makeup into high-grade manganese concentrate containing at least 60% manganese at degree of its recovery at least 95%, while simultaneously increasing degree of concentration from 2 to 6.
